Our Client is an independent risk management organisation that works to improve its clients� quality, safety, environmental and business performance throughout the world. The purpose of this job is to undertake surveys of structural and mechanical aspects of offshore installations. The Compliance and Engineering Services Department provides certification, classification and verification services to the oil and gas industry. These services provide evidence of conformity with: regulatory requirements (certification); Our Clients Rules (classification); and duty holder�s schemes (verification). The process includes survey at manufacturers� sites and offshore as well as office based documentation review .

Job responsibilities
Reporting to a Team Leader, duties will include:
Surveying of offshore installations including: primary structures; secondary structures; process plant; utility systems; accommodation; safety equipment; passive and active fire fighting arrangements
For floating installations, in addition to the above, surveying of marine systems; mooring arrangements; turrets, risers and offloading arrangements
Surveying of equipment/material at manufacturers works for both verification and certification requirements
Understanding and interpreting UK offshore legislative requirements.
Understanding the basic principles of risk management and ability to interpret an offshore installation safety case
Preparing Performance Standards and Written Schemes of Examination for offshore installations
Providing good control and management of projects, including: communications between the company and clients; financial control, and timely and accurate reporting
Candidates having limited experience in the areas outlined above will be considered.

Our requirements
Candidates will preferably be Chartered Engineers or working towards Chartership, with good technical ability and relevant experience in marine, mechanical, or petrochemical/process engineering. In addition, they must be able to demonstrate good communication skills with colleagues and clients, and have a willingness to find solutions to problems. The role will require confidence in making decisions, sometimes under pressure and an understanding of the commercial aspects of the work. A knowledge of Classification is desirable, though not essential. There may be a requirement to travel both offshore and overseas, sometimes at short notice.
