Our client runs a large analytical laboratory in the Berkshire area. They are currently looking to recruit a Sample Technician to assist in delivering the statutory, operational, investigational and regulatory analysis for the laboratory.

This is an extremely busy laboratory with a high throughput of water and wastewater samples. The successful applicant will register incoming samples onto the Sample Manager database, from which analytical teams will take them for analysis. In addition they will carry out bottle orders, which are required to be made and dispatched in order that internal customers are able to carry out the sampling programmes. The post holder will also carry out a number of supportive tasks for the laboratory staff allowing them to carry out the analysis side of the laboratory function.

The ideal applicant will be somebody who has good logistical skills and who is proactive with attention to detail. You must be flexible, and have the ability to work alone as well as in a small team. It is essential to be able to prioritise workload and carry out repetitive, simple and physical work with accuracy. Experience within a similar laboratory environment working to UKAS / ISO 17025 standards, and experience of an Excel and/or a database system would be advantageous.
