Our Client is a market leader in the design and construction of combustion turbine power plants in the US, serving more than 300 units at 160 plants, including simple-cycle, combined-cycle and cogeneration applications. These plants have a total generating capacity of more than 100,000MW, ranging in size from 30MW to 1,370MW. Their UK office in Surrey is about set up a brand new UK-based Power Group, to build upon the success of the US Offices who are already long-established in this area of the engineering industry offering a full range of services from conceptual studies and financing to full turnkey rebuild and major component additions.
As such they are currently looking to expand their existing skill base through the recruitment of a Principal Process Engineer for the UK Power Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the process design, including process simulation models, PFDs, equipment data sheets, and P&IDs on power generation facilities.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Specifying and evaluating mechanical equipment
Develops detailed equipment specifications for mechanical equipment.
Prepares mechanical equipment estimates for proposals. Reviews supplier drawings for information relative to design of facilities.
Under general supervision, perform and check most types of calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.
Provide assistance to the Engineering Manager, as requested, in the area of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement, activities, etc.
If serving in a Lead or Area Lead position, the successful applicant will perform all or some of the following: organise/plan jobs, write/review specifications, prepare/maintain schedules, develop/monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, assign work, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities.
Applicants should hold a BSc. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree and have significant work related experience in the EPC industry supporting power facilities in: - power plant process design and power plant mechanical system and equipment. It is essential that have the following attributes: self-starter, highly motivated, and able to handle stress, feedback and criticism effectively. The position requires occasional travel, and potential for planned and unplanned overtime to meet project schedules. Candidates must be fluent with MS word, MS excel, MS access, and be generally computer literate.
