Job Title - Naval Architect � Offshore Inspections
Location- Aberdeen
Status- Permanent

The post holder will be part of a team responsible for the inspection of offshore installations. Your own technical advice should provide a sound basis for employers to set and maintain their own appropriate safety standards.

About the Role
Carry out inspections with respect to specialist issues as part of the Directorate's work plan;

Assess safety cases, drawing conclusions as to the adequacy of the case itself, and make recommendations for future inspection topics;

Investigate accidents, incidents and complaints as part of a team or alone;

Provide support for enforcement action, including the preparation of technical reports, and provision of expert evidence in legal proceedings;

Person Requirements
A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject;

Chartered Engineer or equivalent, having corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution;

Experience of design, construction, integrity management and maritime operations for floating installations and vessels and their marine plant and equipment;

Familiarity with relevant offshore standards including those of the International Maritime Organisation and Classification Societies;

Experience of the assessment of seaworthiness including intact and damage stability, hydrodynamic and aerodynamic loading, response and model testing;
