Our client is currently recruiting Civil Engineers for an expanding team dealing with the inspection and refurbishment of large diameter aqueducts.

This team is presently working with the client to refurbish a major aqueduct system, and is also involved with investigations of other tunnels, owned by the client as well as other associated work. It is the intention to increase the capabilities of the team so that it can undertake the design of large diameter pipelines.

Candidates should have some knowledge of the design of large diameter pipelines/wastewater pipelines or tunnelling, structural engineering and have growing experience in the production of civil engineering designs and specifications. Knowledge or experience of working in confined spaces although not essential would also be preferred.

Reporting to the Project Manager candidates must be capable of producing outputs to meet time, budget and quality requirements. The ability to interface effectively with the clients organisation at all levels is a key requirement.

Candidates need to be capable of being able to research the cause of problems and develop logical and sound solutions.

A sound working knowledge of Health and safety legislation is essential, in particular a working knowledge of the CDM regulations.

To be successful in this role you will need a solid understanding of water industry practices and trends and a sound working knowledge of the standard tools and methodologies associated with their profession.

You must be committed to further developing their knowledge and skills, and be willing to take on new challenges in new areas.

You must be capable of successfully completing tasks and assignments independently and be able to research and identify problems in a logical way and then present the findings in a carefully constructed report or presentation.

You will need the ability to work within a team and contribute to the overall high performance of the team. Takes ownership of their individual work output and stays focused on the most important priorities. Show a basic understanding of project management tools and processes.

You must be capable of making measured decisions based on sound logic, drawing on the guidance of more experience staff as appropriate.

You will need to be able to provide support, guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff in the development of projects and helping grow their technical capabilities.

You will have experience in interfacing with clients, forging positive relationships at all levels within the client organisations and be able to understand client expectations and contributing to their effective management.

Excellent communication skills including a strong ability in technical report writing and be willing to participate in making presentations to the client are essential

The role requires you to be working in an environment where you are handling confidential information. You will be required to work within requirements that are imposed by the client in respect of this information. You should, if required by the client, be prepared to undergo security clearance and other checks with HM Government/regulatory bodies.
