My client is one of the world's leading energy underwriters and they require a Risk Engineer to join their team in London. The company provides a full range of expertise in fire protection, loss prevention, catastrophe controls, claims handling, and many other value added services. Your role will provide support to Underwriters (providing Risk Assessment) and clients (providing Risk Management). The company's approach to underwriting puts emphasis on the quality of facilities management, requiring a technically biased assessment of design, systems and fire prevention aspects of major installations.

Your primary responsibilities will be: desktop reviews for underwriters for new and renewal business; conducting site risk surveys at worldwide locations; maintaining your own awareness and technical expertise in Oil, Petrochemical and Gas industry developments. In addition you will play a role in identifying business development opportunities and assisting the Engineering Manager in training junior Engineers.

All candidates must hold a degree in Chemical Engineering as well as in-depth knowledge of the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry area. In addition you must also show extensive exposure to the process, project and operational aspects of the business, client-facing abilities including the ability to build effective working relationships with on-site managers, clients, etc., and exposure to international projects. You must also be willing and able to travel internationally when required, typically for approx. 40 days per year.
