Key accountabilities
The development of computer models and codes for residual radiation hazard assessment
The verification and validation of such models
The evaluation of codes
The provision of regular progress statements

Responsibilities
Development of computer codes for atmospheric dispersion
Evaluation of imported codes and legacy software
Investigation of new physics models for representation of operational system effects
Verification and validation of new codes and models
Review and critique of internal and external reports and documentation
Understand and apply responsibilities with regard to the Companys Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards

Qualifications
A 2:1 degree or the equivalent qualification or experience in a suitable discipline, ideally physics
A PhD or the equivalent experience is desirable
Knowledge
Good general background in physics
Good computer literacy
Familiar with physics of residual radiation production and atmospheric dispersion
Understanding of operational system effects desirable
Knowledge of health effects of radiation
Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications

Experience
Experience in mathematical modelling and computer simulation
Modelling experience in atmospheric dispersion and health effects of ionising radiation is preferable

Skills
The ability to identify problems, seek relevant data, analyse and evaluate that data and use it to provide a solution
Clear, easy to understand report writing
Good social skills a team player able to communicate effectively at all levels and across all disciplines
