Our client is currently looking to recruit an experienced Microbiology Team Leader to join their water / wastewater analysis team based in Berkshire. This is a key role within the microbiology laboratory, joining an integrated team supporting each other in delivering a high quality microbiology service to customers. You will have the opportunity to contribute and help shape the on-going direction and development of the Microbiology department.

This role will involve:
Day to day operational management of a microbiology analytical section
Management of resources, providing key microbiology data for the business in line with service level agreements, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Leadership within the analytical section, acting as technical expert, providing knowledge to analytical staff, customers and other stakeholders.
People management of direct reports including performance management and day to day governance such as absence management processes.
Management of Health and Safety, taking direct ownership of the analytical section ensuring staff and process compliance with policies, procedures and standards.

The client is looking to appoint an experienced individual within the field of microbiology. Ideally educated to Degree level or equivalent in Microbiology or a closely related subject, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of microbiology analytical techniques, general laboratory operations, quality systems and H&S requirements. There is a strong preference to recruit someone with experience in water / wastewater analysis, but suitably qualified individuals from other sectors will be considered. Experience of coaching, supervising or providing on-the-job training to analytical staff, and an understanding of industry regulations with respect to laboratory operations would be an advantage.
