Job Purpose Statement

With expert knowledge of metallurgical, manufacturing processes, heat treating, material properties and their application, and subsequently providing technical support to internal and external customer needs. Ensure projects meet specification, standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.

Education and/or Experience:

Degree in Materials / metallurgical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in a project driven, technical & hands-on role.

Main Accountabilities:

Work closely with engineering and the customer at quotation stage to assist in defining the material / technical requirements.

Support / develop vendor understanding of metallurgical / material issues.

Ensure customer material quality requirements are defined throughout the project. Participate in regular progress review meetings with internal customers.

Take a lead role in significant material issues (internal and external), to ensure issues are understood and resolved.

Proactively work across the organisation to identify, drive, material improvement projects based on solid material / product knowledge.

Train and mentor others in knowledge of metallurgical manufacturing, heat treating processes, welding and material properties and their application.

Identification, development and implementation of common processes and procedures which support Total Customer Satisfaction, both internally and externally.

Provide After-Sales support on material / technical issues.
