Our client is an international consultancy offering integrated professional services in the transportation, property, environment and natural resources sectors. They have expanded rapidly and have a global network of offices in some 80 locations; employing nearly 6,000 members of staff with over 3,500 in the UK.
They are active in all sectors of property development; these include retail, housing, commercial, industrial, health and education and leisure. A large element of their work also relates to development input into buildings which support transport infrastructure which include airport terminals and railway stations. They are one of the key consultants involved in delivering the UK Government's housing renewal programme, as well as work on major regeneration and urban renewal projects, and new housing areas.

They are currently looking to recruit a Senior Geotechnical Engineer on a permanent basis for their office in Leeds.

Their geotechnical specialists provide a service to other sections of the firm as well as undertaking direct geotechnical commissions for many outside bodies such as government departments, local authorities, financial institutions, other consulting engineers, contracting and commercial organisations and private individuals. Projects range from a foundation assessment for a single building to the geotechnical aspects of major projects such as new towns, highways, prestigious structures, airports and bridges.

The role will be based in one of their Geotechnical design teams providing support on road, rail, property, environment and other projects. You will be producing technical reports, documents & letters relating to Geotechnical jobs and using geotechnical software tools to produce project documentation.
You will be expected to coach and mentor junior team members and project manage and deliver technical projects with the minimum of supervision

This is an exciting opportunity for a developing technical contributor to join their successful and rapidly growing technical team. The jobholder is likely to be continuing his/her professional development and have a reasonable level of competence in his/her own area whilst still acquiring higher-level skills. The role involves important client responsibilities including managing client expectations, documenting technical and project related material, identifying and resolving problems, and notifying management of any required changes. The jobholder may also lead small projects and coach and support other team members. The role is responsible for identifying opportunities to expand existing business, and the jobholder interfaces with client managers to build a broad and influential network, and uses multiple methods of communication to increase acceptance and support within clients.

The successful candidate should be either a Chartered engineer with ideally an MSc and Civils background with proven experience of Geotechnical Design.
You must have relevant computer programme knowledge and have an interest/experience in business development
You will need good verbal and written communication skills and be able to lead a design team and liaise with clients. Candidates should be self motivated and possess exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills.
