Our client is an engineering company that specialise in design, manufacture and installation of process packages for the Oil & Gas industry. The company are located in the West Midlands and presently looking for a CAD Designer due to increase in project work.

The position of CAD Designer shall include, but not be limited to, the responsibilities identified below. Working as a member of the Engineering Department you will provide support to project or proposal related work or as required by the Lead Design Engineer or Engineering Manager.

Job responsibilities

The key function will be to provide drawings and documents as required by the Lead Design Engineer, Engineering Manager, Project Manager and/or other Senior Engineers/Managers. These include, but not limited to :
-General arrangement drawings and 3D models
-Piping and instrument diagrams
-Piping layouts
-Piping isometrics
-Vessel general arrangements and associated detail drawings
-Vessel internals drawings
-Structural steelwork general arrangements and associated detail drawings
-Pipe support drawings
-Lifting arrangements
-Weight data sheets
-Other mechanical drawings
Liaise with other Engineers/Project Managers/Managers to evaluate and implement design as required.
Issue drawings/documents in accordance with standard QA requirements and liaise through document control to ensure correct revisions are managed and circulated.
Produce technical documents such as packing lists, packing procedures, site erection procedures, lifting procedures or other as required by Engineering Manager / Project Managers.
Produce technical sketches and calculations to support engineering design.
Represent the company as required at technical meetings to discuss any aspects of the engineering design work or schedule.
Report as necessary details of design status and provide schedules of work when requested.
Highlight client initiated changes to Managers and support any subsequent variations technically in order to recover costs.
Liaise with shop floor when required to offer technical assistance to progress fabrication and assembly work.
Liaise as required with sub contract personnel to check, review and manage any 3rd party drawings which may be supplied for project work to supplement project resource.
Liaise as required with sub contract fabricators to provide technical information and where required offer assistance.
Communicate technical queries to Engineering Manager / Project Managers in technical descriptions with supporting reference documents.
Maintain correct records and reference documents as required for responsible scope.

Required Skills or Tools:

Autocad 2000 or above
CADWorx 3D experience or equivalent

Education/Experience Required:

Knowledge of relevant engineering drawing office standards & systems
Min 4 GCESs including Maths & English at grade C or above
Min ONC in related engineering discipline
