We looking for an Architect to assist in the provision of cost effective architectural and design consultancy service solutions to internal and external cients in accordance with architectural design standards that meet company needs. To provide architectural and design consultancy for external clients on complex schemes. To provide cost effective management of appointed architecture and design consultants to meet company objectives.
Conversant with all aspects of rail architecture i.e. buildings, stations, depots and the standards which apply to them

Able to review and constructively comment on third party produced proposals for alteration, refurbishment and reconstruction schemes to ensure compliance with Railway Group and Rail standards and policy.

Appreciate the need for building assets which are fit for purpose, have a high safety ranking, have affordable capital cost and low maintenance costs.

Have a sympathetic approach to Heritage, energy conservation and disabled access requirements.

Essential
Degree in architecture.
Excellent design and presentational skills, including use of CAD, DTP, Powerpoint and freehand drafting
Knowledge of Planning legislation and Consents processes
Knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM) legislation.

Desirable
Broad knowledge of the railways and railway architecture
Knowledge of heritage legislation
